I am David and have 15 years experience working with all ages through my practice as an Art Psychotherapist. I have a post-diploma in Somatic Experiencing which offers you the compassionate tools to connect and let go of your stress, anxiety, overwhelm and repair from trauma. I offer both creative and talking therapy supporting your way to validate what you have been through and the tools to express your needs. I have extensive experience previously working with both young people and adults, in finding ways to work free from anger and shame, towards emotional regulation and a life more full. My goal is to help you move to a deeper self-awareness, free from feeling hijacked by shame, or anxiety. I currently work with adults with a wide range of presenting issues and inclusively with different client groups including people with Autism and those from the LGBTQA+ community.

“I offer a creative and talking therapy that supports you with practical tools to become free of anxiety and emotional overwhelm"

Areas of Specialism and Focus

Trauma

My area of focus is working towards a renegotiation and repair from trauma experienced when younger. In this work I specialise in supporting many of its symptoms; low self-esteem, anger issues, depression, anxiety and prioritising others at a cost to ourselves.

Anxiety

Anxiety is a common symptom that I work with. Often we feel anxiety as a physical sensation in our stomach and chest which can trigger us to over-think. Quite often our worry is exacerbated by both how alone we feel and not knowing what is  triggering our anxiety. I can offer you the therapeutic tools to soothe and relieve your anxiety to  become less controlled by it.

Relationships

I work with issues relating to attachment, separation/divorce, family relations, narcissistic abuse, self-concept and self-image.

Bereavement and loss

I have worked with people of all ages who have experienced complex grief of many kinds. I offer you a way to grow around your grief, so that you don’t have to ‘move on’ but rather ‘forward’ with your unique and valued sense of loss.

Chronic Pain

I have worked with many people living with chronic pain, supporting  them to have a deeper and more compassionate understanding of why their body’s Nervous System is compromised with such pain. Such quality of validation can relieve their symptoms of pain and in turn my capacity for emotional self-regulation.

My Therapeutic Approach

Integrative Therapy

Offering two types of therapeutic approaches (talking and/or creative therapy) that is tailored towards your needs and emotional strengths.

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic awareness of the body; from the word 'Soma' deriving from the Greek word for ‘body.’ This talking therapy approach, helps you to shepherd your awareness of how you physically both hold and release emotional  overwhelm, stress and trauma.

Person Centred Therapy

That supports you to find your comfortable pace to have more choice about what and how to explore your needs in therapy.
