My name is Terry and I have been a therapist for 18 years working with a wide range of adult clients presenting with a wide range of issues. To me, therapy involves providing a supportive environment where you can discuss your current challenges without fear of judgement or criticism. I offer genuine empathy and compassion to help you feel safe and validated. My goal is to provide a safe environment where you can talk about what is troubling you without judging you, without criticising you and certainly without telling you that you shouldn't feel this way. I will validate your feelings and work with you to progress and recover from whatever is troubling you. I currently work with adults online. Although I have considerable experience working across a range of issues my main areas of specialism are relationships and bereavement. These areas can quite often have an immense impact on our overall health and well-being.

“I offer counselling and psychotherapy in a way that keeps you as the primary focus”

Areas of Specialism and Focus

Bereavement

In working with grief and significant loss we together can show that recovery, growth and rebuilding is very possible.

Relationships

In  relationship work I look at a range of issues -  I look at the internal relationship i.e. the one we have with ourselves. “How do I feel about me”?  “What are my strengths and limitations”? “Do I like me? What do I dislike about me and in doing this piece of work I am encouraging clients to like and accept themselves more and to adopt a level of self-compassion. Then we look at the external relationships i.e. the ones we have with others and spend time looking at their needs and expectations; their hopes and aspirations and the challenges that their relationships bring. On many occasions we look at possibilities to rebuild and enhance the relationship and on other occasions we may look at how to disconnect in a healthy and positive manner where possible.

My Therapeutic Approach

Integrative Therapy

My approach to therapy is considered to be integrative which means I draw upon a range of approaches and techniques to meet your needs. No two clients are the same so I have the ability to change and adapt my approach to support you in your journey.

Solution-Focused Therapy

Solution focused therapy gives us the opportunity to have a look at what some of the main issues are and explore if there is anything that could be done to reduce the impact these issues are having on you.
